Kindergarten: Birds and flight
First grade: Forces and motion - rubber band cars Second grade: Matter review - measuring Third grade: Tower challenge! Fourth grade: Design a flashlight Fifth grade: Newton's laws - apply them challenge! Last week, we partnered with the Davidson College herpetology lab to help with a box turtle study. We found a turtle and took it to the lab to have a gps tracker put on the turtle. A simple phone app was downloaded on to my smartphone and we're off! We released the turtle exactly where it was found. Now we will try and locate it using the app a couple of times a week. If we find it, we record its location and what it is up to. The data will be used by the college to generate a bigger picture of how box turtle populations are doing around here!
If your family finds a box turtle, please contact Meagan Thomas (704) 894-2033 or [email protected]. She is also located at Davidson College in Watson 232. Your family can download the app and join in the fun! Kindergarten: Camouflage in the animal kingdom
